Main Walking Program - April to November

We are a sociable group that walks on Saturday mornings with a 9:00am start (winter walks). We welcome any new members. Approximately 25-35 of our 70 members attend each walk with various club members leading the walk each week.

The walks are at different locations each week (within 50km of the Adelaide CBD). There are two walking groups, 'A3' and 'A2'. The 'A3' walks are approximately 10km over three hours and walked at a good pace on often hilly terrain. The 'A2' walks are approximately 7km over two hours, with some hills.

It is essential that walkers wear appropriate clothing and footwear for walking, carry adequate water, personal medication, a first aid kit and take responsibility for their own safety. Walks are cancelled if the temperature is forecast to be 32 degrees or over.

Summer Walks - January to March

We also run a summer programme commencing at 8:30am (Saturday's). These walks are approximately two hours duration. If the temperature is forecast to be 32 degrees or over the walks are cancelled and we meet at Café Bravo, 144 The Parade, Norwood at 9:30am for coffee and a chat.

Twilight Walks (Mid Week)

We are trialing Twilight Walks during summer months usually on a Wednesday starting at 5:30pm for 2 hour duration and more often than not ending up at a pub for dinner.

Walking Trips Away

Each year the Club organises a long weekend and a week long trip away. In recent years we have had long weekends at Normanville and Meningie. The week long trips have included Quorn, Marion Bay, Little Desert Lodge (Vic), Kangaroo Island and Mildura.

Over the years since the club started, we have also arranged overseas walking trips to Japan, Canada and the Orkney Islands in Scotland (these are not annual events - we average about one overseas trip every 5 years). In 2019 we travelled to Ireland. Covid has limited our overseas trips.

Social Activities

The activities include - tea/coffee and cakes after Saturday morning walks, a mid-year dinner and AGM/end-of-year luncheon, plus Easter Monday and June Long weekend walks and lunch.
